About

Lawcris are one of the main distributors of Egger products in the UK. Egger’s reputation for high quality product design and innovation have helped them to become one of the leading European companies in the wood-based material industry.

Owned by brothers Michael and Fritz Egger, the company began in Austria in 1961. Through a series of acquisitions, expansions and commissions, the Egger Group grew and grew throughout the 20th Century. In 1984 the group opened their first UK based plant in Hexham, Northumberland.

The plant has since been expanded and modernised, and has had significant investment to make it one of the most technologically advanced in Europe. This was followed in 1998 by the commissioning of a raw chipboard plant in Barony, East Ayrshire.

Environment

Egger work hard to ensure that they adhere to high environmental standards. Egger strive to ensure responsible use of wood, the raw material, as well as resource conserving manufacturing processes. The focus is on a closed material cycle.

Biogenic fuels that can't be used in products are transformed into heat and environmentally friendly electricity by Egger. Six of their plants, including Hexham, have their own biomass power plants. By using energy from biomass, Egger avoid approximately 746,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year.

Egger also use rail transportation to reduce their carbon footprint. Between 2002 and 2007, they doubled rail transport, saving 17.9 million tons of CO2 emissions.

Egger give priority to the processing of wood from FSC and PEFC certified forests. All wood purchased is monitored with a strict control process within the scope of the EUTimberReg and other forest certification systems. Furthermore, Egger are increasingly procuring wood through their own forestry companies, meaning they can trace the origins of the wood all the way back to the tree.

Egger’s wide range of products include MFC, MF MDF, laminates and more in an impressively vast array of decors.
